 About this Website
Over some twenty or so years volunteers with the AWF (and formerly Proyecto Ambiental Tenerife) from all over the world have had for what was for many their first experience of foreign travel here on the whale watching boats in Tenerife. Based in mountain communities away from mass tourism they have been privileged to be part of a strong and vibrant age old culture through its festivals, ceremonies, fiestas, carnival, and general merriment, eating and drinking!
This web site is a tribute to the reception they enjoyed, the sheer hospitality the received from the people on this wonderful island….and an expression of the many delights they have found on their journey. It is not commercially driven and it will build over the coming days and weeks in the hope of attracting visitors to the island interested in her for what she is, her culture, natural beauty, culinary delights… The money so spent will be direct into the local communities that make up Tenerife and this will help sustain her rather than foreign tour operators.
